i am using a cat 6000 running on CatOS 6.3.3.
when doing some testing i noticed that the temperatures shown by the command
show env temp
are never changing (except the supervisor's temp).
so for example in the first measurement:
Intake Exhaust Device 1 Device 2
Slot Temperature Temperature Temperature Temperature
--------------- --------------- --------------- --------------- ---------------
1 28C(50C,65C) 36C(60C,75C) 30C 37C
2 26C(50C,65C) 35C(60C,75C) 30C 38C
3 28C(50C,65C) 31C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
5 37C(50C,65C) 34C(60C,75C) 32C 32C
6 33C(50C,65C) 33C(60C,75C) 31C 33C
7 32C(50C,65C) 37C(60C,75C) 31C 32C
8 33C(50C,65C) 37C(60C,75C) 31C 34C
9 35C(50C,65C) 37C(60C,75C) 33C 36C
1 (Switch-Eng) 28C(50C,65C) 32C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
2 (Switch-Eng) 31C(50C,65C) 35C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
1 (MSFC) 33C(50C,65C) 40C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
2 (MSFC) 32C(50C,65C) 37C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
after increasing the room temperature (approx. 6°C the command output was:
sh env temp
Intake Exhaust Device 1 Device 2
Slot Temperature Temperature Temperature Temperature
--------------- --------------- --------------- --------------- ---------------
1 28C(50C,65C) 36C(60C,75C) 30C 37C
2 26C(50C,65C) 35C(60C,75C) 30C 38C
3 28C(50C,65C) 31C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
5 37C(50C,65C) 34C(60C,75C) 32C 32C
6 33C(50C,65C) 33C(60C,75C) 31C 33C
7 32C(50C,65C) 37C(60C,75C) 31C 32C
8 33C(50C,65C) 37C(60C,75C) 31C 34C
9 35C(50C,65C) 37C(60C,75C) 33C 36C
1 (Switch-Eng) 28C(50C,65C) 32C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
2 (Switch-Eng) 31C(50C,65C) 35C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
1 (MSFC) 39C(50C,65C) 45C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
2 (MSFC) 38C(50C,65C) 43C(60C,75C) N/A N/A
is this a normal output? What temperature is shown on the slots and why doesn't it change?

Yeah, the output should vary with temperature. You can verify with the following document for the correct procedure to find the temp on the cat 6K slot.
