When attempting Remote Install Services (RIS) build in Active Directory Services (Win2000) over 2948 and 3548 switches the spanning-tree needs to be disabled before the pc can connect to the DHCP server. Does anyone have any suggestions for a better fix so that we are still able to use the spanning-tree functions of the switches?

You should still be able to use spanning tree. Just turn on Port fast for the ports where the computers are plugged into. I was able to use RIS with my network of 3548's that way with no problems.
