Clients with Intel Pro 100 VE or 8255 can only connect to switch at 10mbps/half (set manually on client) except 3com 3c905c autonegotiating at 100 full. Client with Linksys EG1032 autonegotiates at 10 full. Portfast is enabled and setting the speed to 100 full on the switch and client did not help. Please help. Thanks,
newbie

Please take a look here

Most of the time , link compatibility issues will be addressed by the nic vendor in the latest driver. The above page keeps track of incompatibility issues with NICs from various vendors. Make sure you are running the latest drivers.

I am running the latest Microsoft certified drivers on the clients and the clients are fully patched. I have also tried newer drivers from Intel to no avail. The issue persiste even when connecting directly to the switch with short premade cable. I have tried different ports and different laptops/computers. We have actually 2 switches with the same problem and it manifests on MAC computers also. Thanks

Turns out that is a bad capacitor on the switch as per Cisco and I am surprised nobody knows about it.

They have to fix it and I've said it's the switch from the start and nobody listens(Trust me, these switches do not fail! I was told for the last year)
Guess some common sense helps. Thanks
