Catalyst 4506 Chassis + Bootflash commands

ROBERT CROOKS

I have sucessfully upgraded from version 12.2(25)EWA3 from 12.2(18)EW2 and want to install Embedded CiscoView but I can't create the "cv" directory in my bootflash.

I checked all the docs on IOS 12.2, but they all give the "mkdir" command to do it yet "mkdir" us an unrecognized command.

What is my problem here?

Any help is always appreciated!

Hello,

as I understand it, the 'cv' directory should already be part of the IOS. Are you following the procedure below:

Configuring Embedded CiscoView Support

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps4324/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00801cddbf.html#1046822

Regards,

GP

I did follow the procedure, but it won't unpack because I don't have the "cv" directory.

GP,

I have a 4506 that I am about to deploy into production. I'm also waiting on LMS software. I thought I only had to enable ip http server for it to work. Is there something else I will have to do in order for my LMS software to see the 4506 through a GUI interface (web)?

Thanks,

-Zo

I did a little more searching and found that bootflash is a Class B , and it doesn't seem that it can hold directories.

Since no one seems to have the answer to the problem, I am going to buy a CompactFlash card and the PCMCIA adaptor and create the directory on my laptop and they copy the tar files to it. From then on I will just make the CompactFlash be the boot device instead of bootflash:

Zo, I can't think of wat LMS stands for, but if you enable ip http server, you will get just a simple webpage that allows extended ping command and access to the 0 through 15 level commands (instead of going through a telnet session).

I can use Cisco Network Assistant, but it doesn't recognize some of my cards so I need Embedded CiscoView.
