Catalyst Express 500 intro to my network

I have a network consisting of 2 Linksys 2024 Gig switches connected via MiniGBIC and 1 Itenel 510T switch connectd to the main Linksys via ethernet port. I want to install a new CE500 but cannot seem to get it communicating with the severs. I've tried a patch cable from the Gigabit uplink port to an ethernet port on both the LInksys and Intel with limited success...I can ping some server IPs and not others;DNS does not work at all. Can anyone help me with this?

If this is similer to the issue I have, you probably will have to change the port type on the CE500 ports linked to the other switches to 'router' type instead of 'switch' type.
