Other then writing my own script. Has anyone seen any tools for finding a mac address beyond doing endless sh mac-address and sh cdp neigh???

there are numerous tools that let you find the MAC addresses of computers (end stations that is), not sure if that is what you are looking for. Here are two links:

I recently ran across a tool called netdisco. If you are interested, check out http://www.netdisco.org
This is a tool that uses perl scripts to go out and pull the mac addresses from all your switches and stores it in a database. You can then search the database through a web based interface and it will list the mac address along with the switch and port the mac address is attached too. Hope this helps.
