Hi all,
We have a customer who has a cablemodem connection to the internet. We advised him to use a cisco 1605 with 2 ethernet interface to support multiple client over the same internet account.
The cable company uses DHCP to give there clients an ip-address based on a specific MAC-address.
I have configured the Cisco 1605 as follows:
Interface Ethernet0
Description Connected to Internet
ip address dhcp client-id ethernet0
MAC address 0001.aef1.6545
But the Cisco does not get an ip-adres from the DHCP-server from the ISP.
If we connect the Cisco, with the same configuration, to a linux or MS DHCP server the Cisco get's an ip-address as it should.
We have used diffirent IOS versions from 12.2.1 to 12.2.5 on the Cisco 1605, but nothing seems to work.
Does anybody have an idea if this is a problem of the cisco or a configuration issue at the ISP's side ?
Thanx in advance.
