Cisco 3640 Router Serial Interface Load

Serial interface on the 3640 router shows load 245/255 while remote site, a 128K PPP link displays normal activity load 17/255. Is this an indication of a hardware problem on the 3640 serial module?

Not necessarily. Could be related to traffic flow and bandwidth. Also, any errors on line or do you drop packets on ping test in loopback?

The loopback test will determine if it is h/w. After that, you will need to look in other areas.

No errors on the interface and 5 minute input rate is 1000 bits/sec , 4 packet/sec - output rate is 54000 bits/sec , 11 packets/sec -- not much traffic passing through. I have not done the loopback test.
