We have implemented Cisco Prime Infrastructure primarily to monitor and manage wireless infrastructure. In working through some of the reporting I have some problems with data from the system making consistent sense. I am wondering if anyone can review the three provided graphs and give me some insights as to why I would be seeing discrepancies. This is one focused question on one data set but I see issues in the understanding of several in the system. The trouble with encountering discrepancies like this is that the validity of the data overall gets called in to question and the last thing I would want Senior Management to do is use any piece of data that might be suspect in being accurate.
What we had hoped to access from this system was some basic clarity on usage statistics across the environment. Things like Client Counts, Client Traffic, Client Sessions. What I have found is that there is some differences of the information in these areas, the one being shared here is Client Traffic.
This first graph (Graph 1) is the Client Traffic as shown in the dashboard. You can see a traffic download peaks between 35 - 45 Mbps throughout the week.
This second graph (Graph 2) is for the exact same time period but it is a report from the report menu that includes all. As you can see the download peaks throughout this week reach around 20,000 MB. I did notice that the units are MB instead of Mbps. This might be the difference I guess, have to think about the math on that.
The final graph (Graph 3) is from our SolarWinds monitoring system and comes from the specific port on a Cisco switch that the Telco provided Internet Feed is plugged into. This then allows me to correlate the above graphs with the actuals that the feed experiences. This indicates to me that the first graph is correct in this context so I am only puzzled by the middle graph.
This is one example where I need to validate the information so that when different reports are used to present the usage, they are providing the most accurate information. I appreciate any response to the above in helping me better understand the results I am seeing.
