Cisco Router 100% cpu utilization

dien9

Level 1

I run #sh proc cpu, can see:

CPU utilization for five seconds: 100%/81%; one minute: 87%; five minutes: 80%

but I cannot find in the any high cpu process according to the PID.

Do you know why?

The high cpu utilization make the logn ping time even timeout.

Cisco Internetwork Operating System Software

IOS (tm) RSP Software (RSP-ISV-M), Version 12.0(5)XE5, EARLY DEPLOYMENT RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

Hi

Your IOS code seems to be pretty old better update it to a newer version of code available so that you can have CEF configured in your box.

Enabling CEF will help you to reduce the peaking CPU load in your router...

regds

I'm using 7506, what IOS version recommend?

This image for 7500 router support cef.

rsp-pv-mz.12.0-30.S5.bin (128/16)

Don't forget to verify memory require.

I'm now using rsp-isv-mz.120-5.XE5

where can download ?

Checked the InQ and OutQ for all peers is zero.

Cisco Document said BGP now queues data aggressively from the BGP OutQ to the TCP socket for each peer until the OutQs have drained completely.

Do I need to upgrade the IOS and only type some command can achieve that.

If I need to upgarde the IOS, can you email the file to me ? Thanks.
