Has anyone tried putting a VIP or fronting Cisco Secure Network Analytics UDP Director with a VIP?  I have 2 UDP at 2 separate location and would like to put a VIP.  Any information or documentation would be really helpful.

Certainly! Deploying a VIP (Virtual IP) in front of Cisco Secure Network Analytics (SNA) UDP Director can enhance availability and load balancing. Here’s a high-level approach for achieving this:

  1. Network Architecture and VIP Configuration:

    • Ensure your network architecture supports VIPs. VIPs are commonly used for load balancing, failover, or high availability.
    • Configure the VIP on a load balancer or a device capable of handling VIPs. This device will distribute traffic to the two UDP Directors based on the VIP.
  2. UDP Director Configuration:

    • Update the configuration of each UDP Director:
      • Set the VIP as the destination address for incoming traffic.
      • Ensure both UDP Directors are aware of each other’s existence and can synchronize data.
      • Consider using a heartbeat mechanism to detect failures and trigger failover.
  3. Testing and Monitoring:

    • Thoroughly test the setup to ensure proper failover and load balancing.
    • Monitor the system to detect any issues promptly.
  4. NetFlow Configuration:

    • Enable NetFlow on your WAN and Internet Edge routers.

Remember that specific details may vary based on your network environment, hardware, and software versions. If you encounter challenges during deployment, consider reaching out to Cisco support or consulting with a network specialist.
