Here is my ordeal. I have the following:
CiscoWorks Common Services 2.2
Resource Manager Essentials 3.5
RME Incremental Device Support 3.5
VPN Monitor Suite 1.2.1
Internet Explorer ver 6.0.2800.1106 SP1
Sun Java 2 ver 1.4.2_03
Well here is my problem. Everytime I try to open Cisco View I get the following error message
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error
Program Files: C:\Program Files\Internet Expolorer\IExplorer.exe
Abnormal Program Termination
Then every browser I have open cloes and then re-opens. So I have to log back into my CW page and start what I was doing all over again. If any of you have ideas what is causing this please pass them along. Thanks, Brandon

have you installed the Update-1 patch from CCO?. If so, then it supports plug-in 1.4.1_02 only. You're at 1.4.1_03, which could be the problem. Other wise, try using Netscape to see if it's a IE only issue.

rmushtag is right. The Java apps in CiscoWorks are VERY particualr about having the specific JRE (1.4.1_02 if you have Update 1 applied) noted in the system requirements readme doc. No other version will work correctly.
I don't like it either - complain to your Cisco rep and maybe we'll get it changed!

I am having a similar problem. I am running Cisco Works VMS v2.2 update1 with the IDSMC v1.2.3 update patch and hotfixes applied.
I have another management tool with a Java-based GUI. When I upgraded this other tool, I was forced to upgrade the JRE to Sun's J2RE 1.4.2_04. I believe this is their current version.
After upgrading the management station with the newer version of the JRE, I was no longer able to access CW/VMS.
I found a reference to changing the /NMSROOT/lib/classpath/javaplugin.properties file to change the jpi-version info to 1.4.2_04. This was sufficient to get me into CW and the MC. I am still not able to get into the SecMon application though.
This is a considerable inconvenience for me at this time.
Does anyone know if there is another setting somewhere that is specifying the JRE version for CW?
The only solution I can see is to install another browser (Netscape) and configure it with the JRE 1.4.1_02 required by Cisco Works. This is not really a good solution from my perspective.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Regards,
Chad
