How does cisco IOS behave with a classful subnetted structure with respect to forwarding broadcast?
Assume a router with static routes only.
Does a directed broadcast to 126.96.36.199 get forwarded to all subnets of 188.8.131.52 network or the 184.108.40.206 all-ones subnet (assuning 1-byte subnet portion) ? Will the broadcast be forwarded over ppp links (rfc 1716 sec 220.127.116.11)? RFC 1812 sec 18.104.22.168 says it is obsolete, but that does not explain the practical behaviour. Will ip classless
What about when RPF is used? Does it behave lik ein RFC 922?
I will be able to test this out on PPP links only next month, but I can't wait for the answer.. :)
