Hello All,
We have Cisco switch 3560-24PS-E and we want to use it as a router (i.e. use the layer-3 routing feature). Let's assume that our ISP router is 172.1.1.161 and Our Router (this case switch) is 172.1.1.162. Also, the assigned IPs for our network is 172.2.2.0/24.
In order to do that, we enabled the IP routing.
Then, Make port #1 as a routed port.
Then, Assign the IP 172.1.1.162 address for that port
Then, Use static route to 172.1.1.161 (ISP router)
Now our question is
What is the default gateway for a host inside our network 172.2.2.0/24? Is it 172.1.1.162??
Also, in the express setup what are the numbers should we use for the IP address (switch IP) and default gateway??? and what those numbers are used for??
Thanks a lot

A default gw is typically in the same subnet as the hosts that are using it.
You should put a 172.2.2.x adress on int vlan1. This will be your default gw on the LAN for all ports in this vlan.

Would you please explain more. I understand that the default gateway should be in the same subnet.
My question is "how to set the default gateway?"
For example, if I want to use the address 172.2.2.1 as the address of default gateway, what is the command should I use in Switch setup?
Please try to explain as much as you can.
Thank you
