CLIP (RFC 1577) versus routed RFC1483

Hi,

It's a theorical question.

Is anybody knows if there is any relationship between CLIP (Classical IP) and routed RFC1483?

For example, can I say that CLIP uses the routed RFC1483 format (VCCmux or LLC), and then describes mechanisms for ARP?

Some people told me directly that CLIP = routed RFC1483, is it true?

Thanks for your advice.

Regards,

Michelot

Hi Michelot,

I reply to my question.

CLIP is an extension of RFC1483 to ARP mechanism.

CLIP = RFC1483 + ARP over ATM

Thanks Michelot,

Michelot
