I have a customer who is experiencing problems with CMS on their Catalyst 3524XL switches.
Whilst they can log in ok and use CMS with no problems for all switches, whenever they try to obtain a bandwidth graph, or link graph (any kind of graph or report), they get the following java error:
"Exception: netscape.javascript.JSException: Method invocation failed 0x80020101"
The error occurs for all switches/links.
Can anyone help? Please don't say I must install Netscape!

Hi,
which IOS version are you running?
Which browser and PC operating system version?
I've spent a lot of time fixing Java Plugin compatibility problems with CMS.
Some IOS required Java plugin 1.4.0 in the past, but the latest one again works with 1.3.1.
Some I.E. versions also don't work (I.E. 5.50 on Win2000, e.g.), but I.E. 6.0 on WinXP works OK. (I'm running 12.0(5)WC5a on my switches.)
It's always a long-time playing with these IOS-Java-OS-browser compatibility problems.
But the most stable combination which I recommend is really Netscape 4.79 with Java plugin 1.3.1.

Milan

Thanks Milan,
Client = Windows XP fresh install with IE6.0.2800.1106xpsp1
Java = 1.4.0
Switches = IOS v12.0(5.2)XU
I've tried Java v1.3.1 but it was no better

Hi,
if I remember correctly, IOS v12.0(5.2)XU was just the one requiring Java 1.4.0.
Another trick:
I'm running Java 1.2.2 AND Java 1.3.1 installed both on the same PC.
(With Java 1.3.1 only IE doesn't open the CMS window.)
My client is identical to yours.
But I'm running 12.0(5)WC5a on my switches.
Regards,
Milan
