Comm Servers and the escape characters

Hi!

We put up a Comm Server (Cisco 2511) here and we'd like to use it to access many console ports in a telecom room ...it is working properly with one exception: for some reason, if you log on a device, there is no other way to log off than rebooting the Comm server or waiting for the session timeout...I've tried the standard Ctrl-Shift-6-x and numerous other sequences...and so far it doesn't work. Any one has an idea?

Hi,

I was misunderstanding all the time. So you are connected via console line primary to the comm server and telnetting then to the target device.

1) Why don't you Telnet to the comm server via it's Ethernet port primary?

Then some of my suggestions might work.

2) Regarding session timeout

have you tried

exec-timeout 0 15

in your config?

It should set inactivity timer to 15 seconds.

I should have applied your first piece of advice....

The thing is that I was entering ctrl-shift-6-x, not ctrl-shift-6 then release all then x.

So it works now, and I feel both happy about it and stupid about taking so much time to figure this one out.

thanks to all

M.
