Does community string indexing method to work on CAT3500XL with IOS 12.0(5)XP. I am having trouble seeing devices connected to vlan2. Switch is not responding to commnad

snmpwalk -c community@2 switchIP mib-2.17

For accessing bridge mib, you need to use community string indexing. Is that what you're trying to do?

yes, I need to access the bridge mib instance for vlan1, vlan2 and vlan3. I can get the vlan1 info with out the community stirng index.

You're running 12.0(5)XP which is affected by CSCdp45404, related to this issue. Upgrade to the latest code should correct this.
