Conparing catalyst Reliability

Hello,

I am searching for informations regarding reliability between two access switch solutions :

One base on 2x Cat 3750, and one 4503 with Sup2+,2x 48p 10/100/1000 and 2 PSU.

I have found Info regarding MTBF for 3750 :

- 168kH with 1 Power Sup

- 256K with 2 Power sup.

How can I compute value if I use stack ? I will not double the Value as for Equipements attached, if the Switch die, stacking doen't help for.

.

My guess is than 4503 is made for industry environment should have a better number... but to prove that a 4503 with 2 LAN cardes and 2 PSU is better than 2x 3750...

If somebody can help me to provide realistic answer to my customer...

Rgds

Patrick

I think the following items helps you out to prove that one...

This is from Catalyst 4000 series switches document...

High availability"Self-healing" network intelligence is fast enough to recover from port, device, and link failures without noticeable delays at the desktop. Combining more features into fewer chips translates to a mean-time-between-failure (MTBF) rate that is five times higher than many competitors'.

And please read this article of Packet magazine which helps you out how to calculate MTBF...
