Console connection which layer 2 protocol?

Hello everyone,

I have a relatively simple question but I can't find the answer anywere. Does anyone know which layer 2 protocol is used when connecting to a cisco device using a console cable?

No console connection does not use any protocol, rather it uses a serial connection.(that will be comm ports )

is this make sense?
