For some cisco devices the console setting is 9600bps,8data,1stop and no parity.And some have the stop bits alone different as 2bits.Whats the reason.Thanks.

Usually 2 stop bits are only used with 7 data bits - which is almost never done anymore. I think there were some old devices that required a fixed 10 bit character, so 8 and 2 were necessary. But not on any modern-day terminal emulator.
