I have got a question on the capability of the Gigabit module currently installed on slot 2 of my 4006 Switch. The Gigabit module model is WS-X4448-GB-RJ45. I have created etherchannel on port 2/33 to 2/44 and its working fine with a pair for one channel. For e.g 2/33-34 for one channel, 2/35-36 for another and so on till port 2/43-44.
I want to create some other port channels with 2 port each. When I did this "set port channel 2/17-18 mode on" it seems like it include port 17 to port 20 to one port channel. Also when I do it for the other portsit includes the ports that I dont want to include. Another e.g is when I did a "set port channel 2/21-22 mode on" it includes port 21 to 24.
I want to create gibabit etherchannel from port 2/17-32 with two port each which means port 2/17-18 for one channel, 2/19-20 for another and so on till port 2/31-32.
How many port channel can this Gigabit module take ?
Or do I have to do a special configuration ?
Please let me know

I guess you cannot use more than 8 ports on a single module for etherchannels. I see that you have 48 1000 base interfaces. If you are trying to use more than 8 ports, try using another module and check. Also check the below link for details about limitaions of etherchannel on cat 4000 .Please let me know if it of any help.

Thanks for your message. This is really helpful. Do you mean more than 8 port channels on one module or 8 ports on one channel per module. I remember for 2950 switches, we can configure only up to 6 port channels

You can configure 64 port channels with maximum of 16 ports per channel.
To your ques, it is max of 8 ports on a module for any number of channels.
