I would like to add devices to RME and have the name resolved thru the local hosts file on a Windows 2000 server. I have entered the names in the hosts file and can ping them from a DOS prompt. BUT RME will not add the device when I use the Name.
When I try the Management station to Device tool from the NOT RESPONDING DEVICE link I get - Sorry, nslookup encountered an error while looking up the device...
What gives? Please don't tell me I have to run a name server to resolve names.

Can you use nslookup on the CW2K server and able to resolve the device name if both forward and reverse directions (name to ip and ip to name)?

NSLOOKUP does not work from my win2k server because it uses DNS not the host file. Ping does work because it resolves with the hosts file.
I want to know if there is anyway to make RME use the hosts file to resolve names.

Yes. You need to install the Integration Utility on your HPOV server. Readme file will clear up any confusions.

I think this response is for someone else's post.
