DHCP on Csico router 860

Hello,

I have configure a DHCP server on the cisco router to configure all the station on the LAN.

The problem is that the Winfows XP does not get the new "binding" when the router say that the new binding is OK.

When i do an "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" the windows XP does not get a new ip address and stay with a fake IP adress 169.x.y.z.

To resolve the problem i do a "clear ip dhcp binding *" on the cisco routeur and do a "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" to get a valid new ip address.

Have you got any idee to help me ?

Configuring the NetBIOS Windows Internet Naming Service IP Servers for the Client

Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) is a name resolution service that Microsoft DHCP clients use to correlate host names to IP addresses within a general grouping of networks. To configure the NetBIOS WINS servers that are available to a Microsoft DHCP client, use the following command in DHCP pool configuration mode:

Command Purpose

Router(config-dhcp)# netbios-name-server address [address2 ... address8]
