I have setup 6 vlans and they r using HSRP for redundancy between 2 3550 L3. I now need to set up a DHCP address with 6 different scopes for each of these vlans. I know how to do it for a single vlan but am a little confused as to how to do this as there r gonna be 6 diff subnets for which ip add have to be leased.

Could someone please help me out with this, if possible send me a sample config.

thnxs :)

Craig is correct , if the dhcp server is on a different vlan then the router converts the dhcp broadcast to a unicast and it is passed on . Each vlan interface will need the ip helper address of the dhcp server configured .

If you are looking for documentation on configuring IOS DHCP server, the following page should help. You will need to have one pool for each VLAN

I m configuring a Win2000 DHCP Server with 6 different scopes. I want to know is how this DHCP Server is gonna come to know which scope to use for which vlan. Cause all the vlans r gonna be pointing to the same DHCP Server with the "ip helper address" command

I think part of the DHCP request gets tagged with what subnet its coming from when it goes across an interface with "ip helper-address" on it. If this tag is not present, the DHCP server assumes its on the local LAN. At least in my experience all I've had to do is add the scope to the DHCP server and its been smart enough to send the right IP addresses to the right subnets...
