I think you should be able to achieve redundancy for this by configuring dlsw on each of the routers on each end. To have the most comprehensive redundancy you can configure each router to see both routers at the other end as DLSw peers (probably with a primary / backup relationship). That way a PC can try one router and if that does not work it can try the other router. The router that the PC gets to will try to forward to its primary peer and if that does not work will try its backup peer. Whichever router got the frame will forward it to the destination. Lots of redundancy here.

I do not think that you can get load balancing if there is a single source and a single destination. I believe that each PC will pick one way to get to its destination. It is more of a host restriction than it is a router restriction.

A quite comprehensive document about DLSw+ Ethernet Redundancy feature:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1830/products_feature_guide09186a00800c75bd.html

Thanks I have allready seen the document about Ethernet redancancy. The thing that is not clear in the document,

does DLSW ethernet redundancy address the problem in

figure 2 about creating a loop?

thanks
