Hello All,
I don’t know if the is the right place to post this question.
I’m
investigating the feasibility of incorporating two access methods
protocols in one LAN (CSMA/CD and Token Ring). That is based on the
traffic, for example, the network could dynamically change between the
two protocols.
So, is that feasible to be implemented using the modern switches or hosts LAN controller?
Thanks.
Hi,
Token ring protocol support was only in cisco 3900,3920 and 5000 switches which are also given a end of sales today modern switches gives a support to token rings vlan by a remote device such as a Catalyst 5000 series switch with Token Ring connections could be managed from one of the supported switches. Switches running VTP Version 2 advertise information about these Token Ring VLANs:
•
Token Ring TrBRF VLANs
• Token Ring TrCRF VLANs
Check out the below links for token ring vlan support in 2960/3560/4500 switches hopw that clear out your query !!
