E3 Module for 3640?

I'm quiet confused regarding a CE3 Module for 3640.

Data Sheet says yes the configurator doesn't show it as an option. Is there a 34Mbit E3 Module available for the 3640 or not? Can any one sort this out for me.

Data Sheet Mentions the Module as "NM-1A-E3".

I do not think you can get E3 modules off the 3640. Possibly the backplane capacity does not support it. NM-1T3/E3 is supported on the 3661 and 3662 though. Check the following link.

The module you are refferring to is an ATM module. Not sure of the differences though.

I agree with previous post. 3640 doesn't support NM-1T3/E3, BUT IT DOES NM-1A-E3. You should notice this is an ATM E3 module, so I don't know if it's what you're looking for. This module requires a minimum IOS release 12.1(2)T and IP PLUS feature.

" This network module support ATM Adaptation Layer 5 (AAL5) and will provide European 34.368 Mbps E3 service. This NM provide E3 ATM connectivity for the Cisco 2600 and 3600 Series routers. It can be used to provide connectivity with campus networks and LAN switches, and long-haul WAN applications and include support for ATM LANE, RFC1577, RFC1483, TAG switching, and PPP over ATM with full support for both client and server functions. It supports up to 1,024 simultaneous virtual circuits (VCs) and provide extensive traffic shaping and rate queuing capabilities on a per- VC basis."

The customer said he needs a 34 Mbit ATM Module for 3640 which IMHO should be the NM-1A-E3.

So if i got this correct - The module is available for the 3640 the only thing which is required is an IOS greater or equal 12.1(2)T.

Thanks for the info, funny thing is Cisco told the customer that it is not possible!
