Enabling Booting of a Cat3550 from a TFTP server

Have been looking for information concerning booting a Catalyst 3550 from a TFTP server. First can it be done and what are the configuration steps to take. Think it is possible, but have not been able to find documentation to support it. Thanks.

I would assume it would be the same as any other unit, but I don't have one to play with and check... It should be:

boot system tftp:////

or lets say it was booting an image named 3550.bin from a server at 192.168.2.1, it would be:

boot system tftp://192.168.2.1/3550.bin

Does not seem to work. I don't even see the attempt to my tftp server. Do I need to do anything with the configuration register? The switch is able to backup its current config to the tftp server, so it is not a connectivity issue. Thanks for the info.

This document, page 4-5 explains how to boot a 3550 from a tftp server.
