EtherChannel Question

Currently I have a 100mb full duplex link to a Compaq server. I am upgrading the link to 200mb full duplex using EtherChannel. The mode will be set to on.

If I configure an EtherChannel group on the switch prior to setting up EtherChannel on the Compaq server, will the link continue to operate at 100mb full duplex until make the server changes can be made?

Yes it will continue to work at 100 Full Duplex. But the switch ports assigned to the Ehterchannel may start to flap. Some packets may be dropped. I have experienced this yesterday. The best thing to do is enable the Compac Load Balancing and then enable the cisco Etherchannel.
