Ethernet Collisions

I understand that there are going to be a percentage of collisions on an Ethernet interface. My question is, how many collisions is a problem, what percentage of traffic? I am experiencing latency on a Frame link (640k). The Serial and WAN have been tested and are fine.

Its normal to see collisions on HALF-DUPLEX ethernet connections. The percentage of collisions to traffic shouldn't exceed 10%.

I know that is normal to see collision in half-duplex connections, and that according with your response above it shouldn't exceed 10%, so my question is

how could I calcule this % with a Catalyst 5500 parameters in order to know that I have a trouble?

collision would increase with the traffic on the half duplex ring. They are inversely propotional.

like Mick said, you should never experience collisions on a Full-Duplex link.
