Hi Ravi,
You can use a sniffer like etherreal(whihc is most common) to monitor and capture the traces for some Lan related problems like boradcast traffic whihc could cause a hell lot of issue on your network.
When you use a sniffer, it will list the source and destination IP, protocol type like ARP,IP,TCP,UDP and also the kind of traffic broadcast,multicast etc. It will give whole L2 and L3 information for the source and destination hosts.
