Hi,
I have 2 2950 switches. I need to configure etherchannel to increase bandwidth between the switches. I have set ports 1 and 2 on each switch to trunk mode and using 'switchport mode trunk' and then put them into a channel group by 'channel-group 1 mode desirable'. Is this all i need to do and how can i see if its working. Thanks ps. Both switches are in vlan1.

That is all you need. To check for channel, use the sh etherchannel command
c2950g(24)-A#sh etherchannel ?
<1-6> Channel group number
brief Brief information
detail Detail information
load-balance Load-balance/frame-distribution scheme among ports in
port-channel
port Port information
port-channel Port-channel information
protocol protocol enabled
summary One-line summary per channel-group
TO check for trunk, use "sh interfaces trunk"
The following page should help as well

Just configure it under the port-channel. Doesn't hurt to have it under each physical interface as well, but as long as you have it under the port-channel interface, you are good.
