FEC set generating many runts

Cisco 5500: ports 4/5-8 are channeling (channel mode = on), all set to manual 100 FD, with Portfast enabled. All 4 connected to 2 dual port Intel Pro 100 Server NICs, using FEC teaming. Only using default VLAN, with trunking disabled. Configuration seems to work ok, but all 4 ports are getting many runts/align errors, especially the first port. Before changing the NICS to FEC, we were using software called "Balance" to team the NICs, and did not get the errors. Ideas?

Runts is normally an indication of the result of collisions, duplex mismatch, dot1q, or ISL configuration issues. Make sure your NICs are hardcoded to 100 FD as well. Some NICs are capable of trunking. If yours are too, turn off trunking
