flash in use

I tried to download a code to a 2611 but failed. Now, when I try and delete an image from the flash I get told that the file is in use. As this is a remote router I am worried that if I reboot it it wont be able to read an image from the flash and will have lost comms. Anybody know if there is a way I can re-initialise the flash without a reboot? Thanks.

mostly the flash would be in readonly mode. You might want to boot into RXBoot mode and load the image. FOr this set the config settings to 0x2101 and reboot the router. THe router will boot to RXBOOT mode. In this mode, flash would be in Read/write mode, so you will be able to upload the image.

config)#config-register 0x2101 - changes the register to boot with this value, on next reboot. On rebooting, router boots into Rxboot mood. Router(boot) will be the prompt that you will see.

You can execute almost all commands in this mode. The only difference is that the router doesnt have routing capabilities in this mode.

Once you do the upload, change the register settings back to 0x2102.
