Flowcontrol on 10/100 ports

We have a 3550 on our network, and several servers connected to it have had problems with loss of network connectivity. The ports for these servers have flowcontrol receive desirable set. Is flowcontrol necessary on 10/100 ports, and could it possibly cause connectivity issues? Thank you.

Yes it can cause connectivity issues. Have a look in the "throttles" counter in the show int or RxPause in show int flowcontrol, I think that will tell you what is happening.
