Hi, I have a cisco 3745 router that is showing high processor memory utilization. Here is the error from the output analysis of the cisco interpreter.

ERROR: Processor memory utilization is 96.5787%. This is considered to be very

high.

The system has 128 meg of ram and I've attached the output from the show ver command and show processes memory. What I don't understand is what is using all this processor memory. And shouldn't the processor mem + the IO mem = 128M (total mem installed)? Can someone help me?

Hello,

After the IOS is loaded into DRAM and the appropriate structures are created for the IOS to run, what is left over will show as the total. This is the total remaining to be used by other dyanmica processes etc. The IOMEM is used to support the modules and additional hardware installed in the chassis.

For additional information refer to:

Hope this helps.

Regards,

James
