High Utilization on Serial Interface

If one side of a circuit indicates high utilization, should the other side indicate the same? Let say the serial interface on a 2610 router has a load of 221/255 and the remote side shows a load of 8/255, shouldn't they be equal? Or could this be the exchange of packets between the serial interface and the ethernet, and the serial is the bottleneck?

The load is messured on output traffic. If you want to compare or see the input traffic look at 5 minute input rate, 5 minute output rate. If you want to change the average from 5 minutes to something else, configure "load-interval .

I think ver 12.1 and higher show both rec and xmt load. In the case I have ver 12.0 (10). This happen and happens and differnent times of the day, what are some option for decreasing the amount of drop during these peak periods? Custom Queueing??????????????

They don't necessarily need to be equal. One router may sending loads of data while the other is simply sending back ACKs. In terms of not dropping any traffic, perhaps you could try enabling compression between your routers?

You have to look at the inout and output rates and compare them to each other. Do not rely on the load....it could be buffer overloading.
