How to use xmodem in rommon mode with cisco 2501 router

cisco 2501 router, flash ios image must be broken.

It only can be in rommom mode.

So I want to use xmodem to upload ios into flash.

Dont you have a Rxboot image, when u set the register to 0x2101, doesnt it boot to Router(boot)> mode ?? If yes you can use "copy tftp flash" command in this mode to copy file from TFTP server.

Or else I think what you can do is use this command in rommon.

This should load the image from the TFTP server ip address into RAM and executed. Still the image would not have got saved on the flash. So what you need to do is once you boot the router, with this method, do a "copy tftp flash" again to copy the file into flash.

I have not got a chance to test this. But definitely you can give it a try.

but when I try to register to 0x2101 and reset, the router continually reboot.

Now I left my office, I'll try to what you informed of me tomorrow.

by the way, the router hasn't ip address, how can communicate with tftp server ?
