Hy all.
I got a HP Procurve 2650 switch for testing.
I'm very suprised, because this switch looks and feels like a Catalyst. There's a privilege mode, a configuration-terminal and the whole syntax is very similar to the Cisco IOS. It can also handle CDP.
What's the reason for this? How can this be? It is unbelievable much cheaper and because of that it seems to be a very a strong contention to Cisco.
Does anyone have experiences with these HP switches?
Thank you very much!

I agree with you, they are full of features (QoS, VLAN) similar to the Catalyst for MUCH less money. We got 5 to service our lab and they seem extremely robust.

Does it support Cisco proprietary protocols such as HSRP, PVST+, EIGRP ?
