I have small query regarding HSRP.
Kindly go through the diagram attached.
I have implemented HSRP between router R1 & R2 and on both the router R1 & R2 we are tracking se1.
Now the problem is when the link between R3(or R4) and R5 the traffic stucks between R1 and R3 (or R2 & R4).
We need to make R1 se1 administratively down to flow the traffic from other gateway.
and we do not have inter connectivity between R3 and R4.
Kindly help me on the same.

Naresh

If you ask me the best solution would be to run a routing protocol across all routers. If that is not possible there is something known as Object Based tracking which allows you to track interfaces and routes ( the same track as in HSRP). Yo could probably use that.

Our requirement is to divert traffic from R1 to R2 or viceversa. whenever their directly connected routers are having link break to R5.
We should run routing protocol to automated intimation to R1 and R2

Hi Naresh,
I think Object tracking can also take care of this. As suggested in last post a dynamic routing protocol should take care of this. Which protocl you are running ?
Are you running static or defulat routes ?
Please go through the link.

Hi amit/mehta/gutam,
Thanks for your reply.
We are using static routes on all the routers, having E1 circuits between the routers.
Can have some more information on object tracking,
thnx & rgds

This link will help you with enhanced object tracking. In short what SAA tracking does is to poll a certain interface or object such as a route and if the polling fails, then removes the corresponding route from the routing table.
Hope this helps
