I've got 2 2621 routers configured with HSRP on each interface.
fa0/0 on each router face the WAN and are in standby group 1
fa0/1 face the LAN and are in standby group 5
I've got 'standby priority' and 'standby preempt' configured so that the routers behave in a primary/secondary mode.
It hasn't happened yet, but I'm concerned about the potential where the WAN interface fails on the primary router but the LAN side doesn't. That would result in a situation where packets are still being redirected to the primary router from the LAN where they will then die.
Is there any way to configure HSRP so that in the event of a failure on either of the 2 interfaces, the other router becomes the active ?
