a) Is igmp snooping enabled by deafult in 2950C series switches ?

b) Is is necessary to disable it while using these switches for the sync network between 2 checkpoint firewalls with clusterXL?

Hello,

AFAIK, IGMP Snooping is enabled on a layer 3 device (e.g. a VLAN interface on a router or an RSFC). You cannot individually enable or disable it on a switch; if the 2950C has ports assigned to VLANs which have IGMP Snooping enabled, if not, it will be disabled.

Enabling or disabling IGMP Snooping is just to reduce IGMP multicast queries, it should have no effect on your Checkpoint functionality.
