INTEL NIC teaming with Static Link Aggregation mode (PAgP protocol) for cisco2940 switch
I'm trying to configure INTEL NIC teaming with Static Link Aggregation mode (PAgP protocol) for 2 network ports, but network doesn't become active after the configuration. I'd appreciate if anyone can let me know what I'm missing in my configuration steps.
Thx.
So far, I followed steps in the INTEL help/manual to configure the NIC Teaming
1. Link down (unplug) network cable from cisco switch ports
2. Create NIC Teaming (Static Link Aggregation: PAgP)
3. Configured interface fastehternet0/5 -6 to desirable mode in Channel 3 (pls see the following output for the detail).
4. Plug the network cables back to the switch ports (interface 5 and 6 ports).
Result: I believe that port LEDs should turn green when the port become active or being connected to the network, but the ports LED stays orange (red?), which indicate no network connection.

Greetings,
I took a brief look at the Intel doc's and they state this works with 802.3ad which is LACP not PaGP. I believe you need to change the Etherchannel to support LACP instead of PaGP.
Cheers,

Thx for your reply.
I have PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter on my server machine and installed Intel® PROSet utility, ver. 10 (PRO2KXP.EXE),
According to the help document with the utility, there are at least 2 NIC teaming Link Aggregation modes as follows:
1. Static Link Aggregation (using PAgP protocol)
2. Dynamic Ling Aggregation (using IEEE 802.3ad: LACP).
So if I'm not mistaken, I believe that I should be able to use my 2 ports of the PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter with PAgP (Static Link Aggregation) NIC teaming.
I just wonder if I'm missing something here. I'd appreciate for any feedback and suggestion.
Thx.

Just additional info (copied from the INTEL manual), and INTEL Static Link Aggregation DOES seem to support not only PAgP but also static 802.3ad.
+++++++++++++ manual copy +++++++++++++++
Static Link Aggregation
Static Link Aggregation is a performance technology developed by Cisco to increase throughput between switches. This mode works with:
- Cisco FEC-capable and GEC-capable switches using the PAgP protocol
- Intel switches capable of Link Aggregation
- Other switches capable of static 802.3ad
The transmission speed will never exceed the adapter base speed to any single address (per specification). Teams can contain 2 to 8 adapters, but must match the capability of the switch. Adapter teams configured for static Link Aggregation also provide the benefits of fault tolerance and load balancing. You do not need to set a primary in these modes.
NOTE: The FEC (Fast EtherChannel) and GEC (Gigabit EtherChannel) team types have been renamed to Static Link Aggregation.
IEEE 802.3ad Dynamic Mode
802.3ad is an adopted IEEE standard. Teams can contain two to eight adapters, and you can have a maximum of two IEEE 802.3ad dynamic teams per server. You must use 802.3ad switches (in dynamic mode, aggregation can go across switches). Adapter teams configured for IEEE 802.3ad also provide the benefits of fault tolerance and load balancing. Under 802.3ad, all protocols can be load balanced.
Dynamic mode supports multiple aggregators, and they are formed either by different speeds on the same switch (teams based on speed) or by using multiple switches (provides some redundancy between switches). Only one team will be active at a time.
