I have a server attached to line card WS-X4448-GB-RJ45, users are complaining about network speed. Both the server and port speed are set to 1gb. I have showed the counters on this port and it's returning the following "14 rxNoPacketBufferCount = 31051"
Any thoughts?

WS-X4448-GB-RJ45 card is 8:1 oversubscirbed. Move the connections around this port which is taking errors to different ports so that this busy server has less competition. The following page has the port groupings.

I wonder whether the error count and the users' speed problems are really related.
Does this count go up continuously during working hours, or only during heavy traffic such as a backup. If it is only during a backup, how fast is the port on the other side of the switch? Could it be that the server port is buffering all it can, and cannot get rid of the stuff fast enough at the egress port?

Can you explain exactly what this counter does and why it would clock up errors?
I've just cleared the counters on the server port and will monitor the situation over the next 24 hours.

All the doc gives me is "Number of packets dropped due to packet buffers not available."

Thanks for your help Prashanth, I moved my server to a group with no other devices connected and it's stopped clocking up buffer errors
