IOS DHCP redundancy

Greetings.

Is it possible to configure multiple (two at this point) IOS DHCP servers for a single VLAN with the servers using a common external database? The idea is to avoid using a double-sized address space for the VLAN.

Configuring database agents doesn't work - the servers in turn overwrite the database instead of adding bindings to it.

Hi Dimitry,

Short answer: NO, this is not possible.

IOS usues a local database which cannot be shared with other devices.

You may come close by using a redundant supervisor or VSS but that is probabaly overkill.

I would check the possibilities on linux.
