Hi all,
I am new...so forgive my ignorance. I have a Cisco 2611XM that will act as a contingency router for both our 2611 and 2610 routers. After updating the IOS and upgrading the memory to 64 meg to support both command sets from both productions routers...the contingency router boots to the Router> prompt but I cannot configure IP because it appears that the ethernet interfaces do not exist???? Any ideas????

Have you tried entering "enable" mode? At the Router> prompt, type "enable", then enter your enable password. Your prompt should then be "Router#".

Thanks Steve for your reply. When in enable mode I type "Show Int" and no ports appear.

Router#show version
shows the software and interface info for your router
sounds like the software you upgraded to is not right, are you sure you have the right IOS image

According to Cisco support that was the IOS needed to support my devices

It does sound like an IOS thing. Can you post the output of sh ver? Also, did you try putting back the original IOS on the router?
