I have configured NAT on a cisco 2500 series router, so that the client PCs located on the inside LAN can access the Internet. Now I wonder whether the router can act as a DHCP server to allocate ip addresses to those PCs automatically.

Yes the router can act as DHCP server.Please go thru this doc:
