Is there a difference between in or outside ring

I have ring with five 2960-X-TS-L.

Does it matter when I add a server rack with 2960XR-48-TS-L via one fibre optic to one of the ring switches or when I put the 2960XR in the ring?

Hi @Andrew12345

As per my understanding your using ring topology to connect Cisco switches. so there is no "in or out" its depend on the STP port forwarding and blocking, one side should be in forwarding another side will be in blocking.

Flow should be as follows;

Main switch Forwarding---> 2960-01 <-->2960-02 <--> 2960-03 <--> 2960-04 <--- Blocking Main switch
