ISDN phone numbers to ISP

Just want to make sure, I am on the right track here:

I need to configure an 803 router to connect to the ISP on one number/username and password and when that connection fails (because that access account is timelimited) to dial on another number with its own CHAP username and password to restore connectivity.

Am I right in assuming that 2 dialer profiles will be needed to link to the BRI interface?

Also I want to ensure that the second number never gets dialled until the first number becomes unobtainable.

Getting a bit confused with round robin scenarios etc.

If I havent made anything clear, please let me know.

many thanks in advance

Steve

I'm thinking in the same direction, creating two dialer interfaces and 2 static routes with a different admin distance.

To prevent the router from redialling the first number over and over again without trying the second one, I suppose you'll need to use "dialer redial" command to limit the redial attempts to zero:

Have never tried this myself so let us know how it works out :)

Hi,

Use "dialer-string" like

int bri0

dialer-string 1stno

dialer-string 2ndno

If first number is not obtainable, then it'll automatically tries to dial second number.

Ashok.
